FOUNDATION INITIATIVES

“Through partnership and private support, the Hennepin County Sheriff Foundation closes a critical gap in resources. The Foundation proactively addresses the growing need to rethink how we can do more with less, operate efficiently and still promote excellence.” - Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek

The Hennepin County Sheriff Foundation has the following priorities:

  • Direct new resources to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) to supplement equipment and training for volunteers and allow for new investments in advanced technology and sophisticated crime-fighting tools and programs to meet the challenges of policing in the 21st century.
  • Develop, support and facilitate after-school youth intervention and crime prevention programs that will provide Hennepin County youth with law enforcement mentors who will encourage them to reject drugs, violence and crime and empower them to become responsible adults.
  • Promote careers in criminal justice and law enforcement by providing scholarships to graduating seniors, particularly within diverse communities in Hennepin County.
  • Provide HCSO personnel with professional growth opportunities that will enhance their skills, knowledge, and leadership capabilities.
  • Support, with financial or program assistance, members of the law enforcement community and their families who are experiencing difficulties due to death, injury, illness or hardship associated with the inherent dangers of policing.
